NCB appoints Sanya Goffe to Board of Directors

October 1, 2011 will see the official appointment of Attorney-At-Law, Sanya Goffe to the Board of Directors for the National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB). Chairman of NCB Jamaica Limited, Michael Lee Chin said “Sanya Goffe has a diverse and impressive professional and philanthropic background. As our tenth board member we are anticipating that the value-added she brings to an already seasoned Board, will be fresh and novel, to enhance the business going forward." I look forward to this new appointment and consider this a premier opportunity to join Jamaica's number one bank, in a capacity where I can play an instrumental role, in aiding NCB in defining and achieving new landmarks of success," expressed Mrs. Goffe. Mrs. Goffe was called to the Jamaican Bar in 2003 with her main areas of practice including Commercial, Pensions and Intellectual Property law. A former Commissioner of the Fair Trading Commission, her practice also encompasses consumer and competition law as well as general corporate law. An active member of the Jamaican Bar Association, she is the Convenor of the Intellectual Property Committee and a member and former Chairperson of the Social Affairs Committee of the Bar. She is also a director of the Pension Funds Association of Jamaica as well as a Co-founder of the Adult Learning Centres of Jamaica, a non-profit organisation committed to improving the literacy and numeracy of adults in Jamaica. Mrs. Goffe has written and lectured on subjects including the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, anti-counterfeiting, brand protection as well as consumer and pension law issues.
