Legacy Soiree: NCBJ CEO hosts Elegant Father’s Day Tribute

25 Jun 2024

Kingston, Jamaica – June 25, 2024: It was an evening of elegance at the home of National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited’s (NCBJ) CEO, Bruce Bowen. This event was the first installment of ‘The Legacy Series’, NCBJ’s month-long tribute to fathers, honouring the role they play in passing down positive values and creating generational wealth.

Bowen and his wife, Suzanne, welcomed guests into their beautifully decorated home, with tasteful décor and floral arrangements provided by Petals and Promises. The ambiance was set with soft café lights, and high-energy tunes from Coppershot Music.

“Being a father is my greatest blessing,” Bowen shared in his welcome address. “My wife and I have five children; it’s a huge responsibility because you want to ensure that they grow up with strong values and opportunities for success. This evening celebrates fathers and the legacies we’re building. At NCBJ, we are committed to supporting fathers, mothers, everyone, in creating enduring legacies for their families and communities, because building a better Jamaica starts with the family."

Guests enjoyed a selection of artisanal hors d'oeuvres prepared by renowned chef Oji Jaja of Ashebre, blending international and local flavours. Decadent pastries and confections added to the culinary experience. A highlight of the night was the whisky tasting led by sommelier, Sheldon Moffat, from Select Brands Limited, featuring aged expressions from the Glenlivet brand being served in glasses garnished with whisky-filled syringes, orange peels, and chocolate crumbles, creating a visually stunning and flavorful tasting experience.

Some guests had this to say: “I enjoyed the taste testing,” said Project Manager, Billie-Jean Tulloch, an attendee of the event. “But what I enjoyed the most was that NCBJ is honouring fathers, because sometimes they go unnoticed. Believe it or not, we do have a lot of very good fathers and they don’t get enough credit, gratitude or recognition, so I am happy that there was a corporate event that puts them in focus for a change.”

Sports Manager, Timothy Spencer, who was accompanied by his son, shared that the event gave his son the opportunity to learn and listen to important conversations about building generational wealth. “This was a very nice lyme. We met some very great people and had great conversations,” Spencer said.

“It means a lot to be celebrated as a dad and it’s nice to be recognised,” said Kiran Banhan, 30+ year NCBJ customer, and founder of K-Ban Hardware Limited.

This June, NCBJ is celebrating ‘Father’s Month’ with ‘The Legacy Series’, featuring various events and activities throughout the month aimed at celebrating fathers, and bringing them into focus.
