Beware of Internet Scams There is an increase in the number of internet banking scams, as fraudsters continue in their attempts to gain access to accounts. Unfortunately, some customers are responding to these phishing emails/scams. We ask that you exercise caution when you receive these emails. Under no circumstance should you click the link in these emails. Even if you do not enter the requested information, harm may still be done as clicking the link may result in exposure to malware which compromises the security of your system.   Where such an email is received, please follow the steps below:  Forward email to ncbinfo@jncb.com  Delete email What is Phishing? Phishing occurs when an unscrupulous person sends an email soliciting your personal information with the aim of using it to illegitimately access your accounts or engage in other illicit activity.  Other characteristics of  phishing emails include:      The use of corporate logos, colours, graphics, legal disclaimers etc. to create the impression that the communication is from a legitimate organization. Requesting that the receiver updates or confirms private or confidential details such as login information, account/credit card numbers, personal identification number (PIN) etc. - Suggestion of dire consequences for not responding to the email.            Attempts to persuade recipient to provide the requested information.           A link to an impersonated website.  Here are a few tips to help you protect yourself online: NCB will never request confidential information such as PINs and passwords. Never login to your bank website through a link in an email. Always type in the web address yourself. Never use a public network to access your personal and financial details or for conducting monetary transactions. If you have questions about the authenticity of an email, or if you suspect that you have been phished you should contact NCB immediately at 1-888-NCB-FIRST (622-3477).
